"Free Them " was written in January 2003 before the Iraq war. I wanted to write something to show my appreciation to our great U.S. military. The idea of world wide freedom and democracy was a wonderful, albeit impossible goal. And, at the time, seemed like something that might only belong in a song. I am elated to see that the concept of world wide democracy has become President Bush's heartfelt ambition and goal.

Free Them

On behalf of a very grateful nation

Just want to thank you

From the bottom of my heart

Because of you we sleep a whole lot sounder

And to thank you

I just don’t know where to start

Brave and noble sons and daughters

 You’re America’s best

Defending our home land

You are willing to invest

Your hopes and dreams

And when it means a greater sacrifice

You go the distance and you keep

The flame of freedom burning bright

Chorus:

So let freedom reign

To the ends of the earth

Let the whole world see it’s value

And the worth of every soul

This is democracy’s design

“To be free” has been imprinted

On the heart of all mankind

Go and break the yoke of bondage

Help to set the captive free

So they can see the light

And breathe the air of liberty

Blind despair will end when

Dark oppression turns to day

A fearless day when

The whole wide world will say

Chorus

Bridge:

God forbid we ever take for granted

The sacrifices made for freedom’s light

A blessed beacon that will blaze throughout forever

Thanks to God and our great military might

So let freedom ring

From the ends of the earth

Let the whole world hear

 The value and the worth

Of every living soul

Created in a grand design

“To be free” He has imprinted

On the heart of all mankind

“To be free” God has imprinted

On the heart of all mankind
