Last night I awoke, could not go back to sleep
The pain they are feeling almost made me weep
I can’t comprehend it, I can’t take it in
This abomination, this horror this sin

Rose buds were taken not yet in full bloom
Of life in its last moments in their school room
Now just the latest in making the rounds of gunning down
Laying our babes in the ground

Where did it start, when did we lose control
Who blew the light out in these dark human souls
How did they learn to create so much pain?
Who owns their being, think I know his name

Creator of evil the father of lies
The mind blinding teacher of hatred and strife
Killer of conscience, the giver of grief
Author of violence, innocent’s thief

Sweet roses were taken and nipped in the bud
Ripped from the bosom of family and blood
Cut down in the morning of life’s early day
Now they’re a part of the Master’s bouquet
