Ground Zero

On a September morning 2001

Beyond imagination! Had WWIII begun?

Evil on a rampage raging wild upon our shores.

If ever we took life for granted

We won’t take it anymore

Steel and stone, fire and hope and fear

Came crashing down

Death and devastation lay in darkness all around

A legacy of broken dreams and lives

Can now be found

At a place they call Ground Zero

There in shambles on the ground

Chorus:

But heart to heart, hand to hand

Shoulder to shoulder

We’ll defend our great home land

America is mighty

But she’s gentle and just

Don’t go messing with our freedom

Or we’ll lay you in the dust

We now know what our nation’s made of

If there ever was a doubt

There are everyday real heroes

You will never read about

Here at home and over there

They’re serving everyday

And in their chosen line of duty

Many gave their lives away

Every creed and color

Make the fabric of this land

The freedoms we enjoy

To the death we will defend

For everyone at Ground Zero

Again for me and you

God bless that old beloved banner

Stars and stripes, red, white and blue
